Visual Dare #10: Peeking

TIME FOR ANOTHER VISUAL DARE!

Below is this week's Visual Dare! Photo courtesy of Anglophonic.

(Instructions below photo.)

Use this photo in one of two ways:

     * incorporate it into your current Work In Progress - literally, or figuratively
     * use it as a 100 word flash fiction to get the brain going in a different creative direction.

Post your flash fiction, using the link tool below! (Those who don't have a blog may post in the comments.)

Happy writing!

  2. Jedd and Martha didn’t attend many parties. Mainly because they weren’t invited. They’d heard about Mr. Hubbard’s community lunch, of course, but were unsurprised not to be asked.

On the day, they walked to the barn and looked through a gap in the boarding. The barn was full of people, sitting at tables groaning with platters of food. There were two empty seats.

A week later, Martha found the invitation, hidden in grass beneath the mailbox.. “All welcome, no reply necessary.” Those two places had been for them. There had been no need to stand on the outside, looking in.

    1. Oh how heartbreaking! There are so many ways this story could go - it's almost a parable in its own right. Love, love, love this. Job well done!!!

    2. Oh, thank you. I'm not a "proper" writer or even an aspiring one: just love tinkering with words. Finding your visual dare challenge has been like unlocking a treasure trove for the imagination! (And such good discipline to tell a story in 100 words...not my usual style, at all!)
